For one year, we had the unique opportunity to follow the ambitious collaboration between Rijkswaterstaat, the Province of North Holland, and 44 municipalities: the Samen Slimmer Renoveren en Vervangen (SSRV) program.

Our documentary captures the journey of this united effort to sustainably renovate and replace over 14,500 bridges and infrastructure elements across the region. From policy tables to muddy riverbanks, we were there—filming key gatherings, strategic workshops, and the bridges themselves: iconic, hidden, old, and essential.

This wasn’t just a production. As Dutch filmmakers, it was a chance to rediscover our country through its engineering heritage. We saw firsthand how innovation, collaboration, and long-term vision shape the future of mobility.

The result is a film that highlights not only the magnitude of the task, but also the beauty of the structures we often take for granted.
